In 1990 Tilak Samarawickrema was engaged by UNICEF New York, to advise them on marketing and design related to specific UNICEF Women’s Income Generating field programs in Guatemala. The consultancy involved conceptualizing and developing products from these programs, which could be marketed through UNICEF G.C.O. sales partners in various countries. The work involved extensive travel in Guatemala, assessing on-going income generating programs for women related to weaving. Submitted the Guatemala Handicrafts Report and based on its findings executed product development programs in the country. Finally, prepared and designed promotional material for multiple exhibits for launching of above hand woven textile products through UNICEF outlets internationally. In addition did a photographic documentation for “Chance for a child” program Guatemala.
